Seriously! Where does the Time go?

Today is the last day of classes for 08/09 year! How insane is that!? It seems like only yesterday us rez-life staffers were helping everyone move in, and get acquainted with each other. Now the same people who were complete strangers in September, are making plans to live together & rent apartments for the coming months- that's a testament to how great rez in and how much bonding goes on! And remember Frosh week (when you had the chance to feel like a kid again with all the crazy games, cheering and activities)? Wow does that ever seem like a lifetime away! **sorry just reminiscing **

So it seems like school has ended, but there’s still two weeks of the exam period coming up so here’s what you need to know to survive the last few weeks:

1. Feeling stressed? The Academic Links have planned Stress Busters everyday during the exam period from 8-9pm (ask your AL for details)!! This includes everything from a Pinata night to Comedy nights to food galore!
2. The Academic Links also have office hours from 1-3pm every day during the office hours.
3. If you have a learning disability or need accommodation during the exam period make sure you check out this link: http://www.ryerson.ca/studentservices/accesscentre/ and register for the access centre.

Ultimately, you’ve only got one shot to do your best on the last exams of this school year, so try your best to study hard and try and ace ‘em! Summer’s almost here, so then you finally have a break & enjoy some beautiful weather and not worry about school week for 4 months! How great is that!

Anyways good luck!

Rezfully yours,

Ryerson Residents are Charitable!

Saturday night we held a Bachelor/Bachelorette auction for SOS Children’s Villages…and to call it a ‘great night’ is nothing short of an understatement!!

Time to fill you in on the magical evening:

20 of the Ryerson’s bravest eligible residents strut their stuff on the catwalk…and let their fellow residents ‘bid’ on them to win a date (while raising money for our charity of choice SOS Children’s Villages!) and raised a whopping $2348.53 for charity!

I had the honour of hosting the event (not to mention auction myself off) and I was completely blown away by the generosity of some of the bids (ie. Up to $200 on people…OMG!)

To make this event even more exciting, Ryerson’s President, Sheldon Levy agreed to match all donations made at the event up to $5000. So every dollar donated was immediately doubled.

Overall, this we truly appreciate the turnout, and a big thank you to our sponsors for the event (Salon Liberte, Golden Griddle, Grille Works, Island Greek, VIP Billiards for your sponsorship!)

Until time,

Rezfully yours,

R.I.P Reading Week...

Right after the holidays it's extremely exciting to know that another break is coming in just a few short weeks...

But when it comes it's absolutely awesome! And I'm sure most of us (who aren't vacationing on a Tropical Island) have some big plans to get our homework done (and maybe even get ahead?)

As it is the Thursday of reading week and I am just beginning to do my homework (sidenote: Procrastination is BAD!!!!) I am seriously wondering why this seems to happen every year. Upon talking to some fellow rezzers (who are back from their breaks) we all seem to be in the same spot.

The GOOD news is (for all of you 1st years) when you come back, Rez is a completely different atmosphere. Everyone seems a little more focused (probably because MIDTERMS! have come) and the time until the summer break literally flies by.

Just wait it'll be the fastest two months EVER.

Anyways, any thoughts on why procrastination seems to plague many university students on the break???? Gimme a shout through email or comment!

Ryerson Rez Presents: Snowflake Day!!!

This was a great event that gave residence a chance to explore what different cultures and religions do to celebrate their holiday!

There was great food, festivities and fun in the Pitman caf, and everyone left with a full stomach and knowledge to go with it!

Thanks to all the organizers of the event.
